MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Softball (3-1) took a 2-0 win and a 1-0 loss to Emmanuel College (1-3), Tuesday evening.
Both contests on the evening were close as the Lions and the Bobcats kept fans on their toes with just three runs being scored between the two contests. GCSU faced a solid pitching team and didn't score their first runs of game one until the third and fourth innings. Sydney Lancaster (Woodstock) put the Bobcats on the board with an RBI single down the third base line. The ball made its way to the left fielder and base runner Madison Todd (Suwannee) was able to come around and score from second base. Lauren Sommerer (Loganville) picked up her first hit of the young season on an RBI single to right centerfield to score Mackenzie Martin (Dacula).
Jana Shellhorse (Hampton) picked up her second start and win in the circle for the Bobcats. She threw the complete seven-inning game shutout as she only allowed five hits after facing 28 batters.
The Bobcats weren't able to plate any runs in the second game against Lion's ace. Shea Zweifel (Ormond Beach, Florida) was the lone GCSU hitter with multiple hits as she went 2-for-2 with a pair of singles. Lancaster was the lone Bobcat to have a multi-base hit as she rifled a double to the left-centerfield wall.
Shelby Jones (Kissimmee, Florida) picked up her second start in the circle for the Bobcats. She took the loss only allowing one run on seven hits in five innings of work. Montana Ledbetter (Hanna City, Illinois) got the relief effort allowing zero runs on zero hits in two innings of work.
