Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Baseball team (3-9) dug a hole early it couldn't escape Wednesday, falling 14-1 to the University of West Georgia (10-3) at John Kurtz Field.
The Wolves plated 10 runs before the Bobcats could answer. UWG got two in the first, three in the second, three more in the third and another pair in the fourth.
The lone run for GCSU came across in the bottom of the fourth, when freshman Gabriel Weurth (Woodstock) singled home leftfielder Hunter Baker (Huntersville, North Carolina) who had walked.
Weurth was a bright spot for the Bobcats, going 3-for-4 with a double and the RBI. Centerfielder Evan Cowan (Richmond Hill) added a pair of singles in three trips.
Righty starter Aidan McConnell (Roswell) took the loss (0-1) unable to escape the second inning. The Bobcats sent six pitchers to the mound, splitting the contest. Freshman John Luke Glanton (Metter) was the most effective of the bunch, throwing a scoreless eighth with a pair of strikeouts.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, March 3 at 2 p.m., traveling to No. 25 Young Harris College.
