CARROLLTON, Ga. – The roll continued for No. 12 Georgia College & State University Women's Tennis (16-2) Tuesday, winning 7-0 at the University of West Georgia (11-8).
The Bobcats didn't drop a single match, starting with a doubles sweep. On the top line, Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) and Emma Fleming (Suwanee) shut out Iuliia Dmitrieva and Patricia Martin-Gome. Fleming and Santoro own a 11-7 mark.
In second doubles, Ashton Morrison (Cumming) and Jada Young (Hilton Head Island, South Carolina) beat Kennedy Lewis and Luna Mouton in a 6-4 battle. Third doubles saw Sofia Shing (Auckland, New Zealand) and Shradha Chhabra (New Delhi, India) take a 6-2 bout over Perinne Blachon and Lara Wedd. Shing and Chhabra are a team-best 16-2. Young and Morrison improve to 12-5 this season.
The third line brought the first finish of singles play, as Fleming topped Wedd 6-2, 6-1. Then came fourth singles, as Santoro improved to 18-0 by beating Lewis. Young clinched the team victory in the second slot, taking out Martin-Gome 6-1, 7-5. Fleming is 14-2 this year, while Young owns a 11-5 mark.
Shing finished next on the top line, beating Dmitrieva 6-3, 6-2. Fifth singles was a 4-6, 6-3, 11-9 come-from-behind effort for Morrison over Callie Stanfield. The day finished in the sixth slot, as Chhabra topped Mouton with a pair of 6-2 sets. Shing improves to 15-3, with Morrison at 13-5 and Chhabra owning a 15-3 record.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 14 at 2 p.m., traveling to Young Harris College.
