Bobcats drop final crossover contest to Choctaws

AUGUSTA, Ga.- The Georgia College & State University volleyball team fell in four sets to Mississippi College Saturday (Sept. 16) morning at the Peach Belt Conference/Gulf South Conference Crossover Tournament.

The Bobcats fell to 8-3.

Despite the loss, Rachel Machovec had the hot swing leading the team with 14 kills. Rosa Fisher had seven kills through four sets good for the second most kills. Brooke Roberts and Abby Infante added four kills each which was third most on the team. Setter Riese Johnson led the assisting effort having 20 of the teams 31. 

On the defensive side of the ball for the Bobcats, Alanis Bernis led charge with 12 digs. Both Callie Miller and Machovec added eight digs to their boxscore, good for the second most. Johnson rounded out the dig leaders as she nabbed seven. GCSU had quite the presence at the net picking up 16 block assists. Fisher had the most with five as Infante and Roberts had four and three respectively. 

The Bobcats are back in action Monday (Sept 18) at 5 p.m. for more road action. They will take on Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia.
