GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Georgia College & State University volleyball took a tough three set loss to Peach Belt Conference-foe Lander University Friday (Sept. 29) evening at Finis Horne Arena,.
The Bobcats fall to 10-6 overall and 0-2 in the PBC, while Lander improved to 15-2 and 3-0.
The first and third sets went in favor of the Bearcats at a 25-16 margin. The second set was closer at 25-20 still in favor of Lander.
Despite the loss, Rachel Machovec had an outstanding night achieving her 10th double-double of the season. She led the team with 10 kills. Camryn Carlton had the second most kills with five with Mary Kate Kotzin right behind her with four. Riese Johnson led the setting effort with 24 of the 25 assists.
On the defense side of things for the Bobcats, Machovec led the charge with 12 digs. Kotzin had the second most digs on the squad nabbing six with Oliva Alvarez right being her with five. The Bobcat blockers picked up eight block assists on the night with Kotzin leading the charge with three.
