GCSU places second at Royals Challenge

CHARLOTTE, N.C. | The Georgia College & State University men's cross country team finished in second place at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University of Charlotte Friday (Oct. 11) afternoon.

The Bobcats, who had eight runners set personal-best times, finished second out of 21 teams in the Blue Race with 71 points. Wingate University won the event with 25 points.

Noah Boyd finished ninth for the Bobcats with a personal-best time of 26:36.6 on the McAlpine Creek Park 8K course. Daniel Laird (12th, 26:40.36), Shipley Smith (13th, 26:42.60), Nour Nazim (22nd, 26:59.85), Jaycob Wagner (23rd, 27:00.08), Garrison Lee (69th, 28:24.09), Brendan Rice (87th, 29:00.37) and Reed Glaser (113th, 29:46.11) all established new personal-best times for GCSU.

Evan Rehrauer came in 27th place for the Bobcats with a time of 27:13.97, while Denver Oates came in 81st with an effort of 28:46.12 and Andrew Cook had a time of 30:55.71 and came in 129th place.

The Bobcats return to action Oct. 26 when they travel to Oakwood, Georgia, to take part in the Peach Belt Conference Championship that will be held on the UNG Cross Country Course at 9 a.m.
