MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Aralyn Everett's goal with just over seven minutes before halftime was the difference as Georgia College & State University upset previously unbeaten Lander University 1-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 19) afternoon at the Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Bobcats improved to 5-6-3 overall and to 1-3-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Bearcats slipped to 6-1-3 and 1-1-2. GCSU hits the road Wednesday (Oct. 23) for a 7 p.m. PBC match against Albany State University in Albany, Georgia.
GCSU broke through at the 38:51 mark as
Sydney Charles took a shot from right side that the Lander goalkeeper couldn't hold on to and Everett knocked in the loose ball for the 1-0 lead. It was Everett's second goal of the season.
The Bobcats held a 17-9 lead in shots, including a 9-5 edge on goal. Twelve different GCSU players took at least one shot in the match. GCSU also led in corner kicks 11-6.
Maddie Drake pushed away five shots in goal for the Bobcats.
