Bobcats take down Golden Rams 7-1

ALBANY, Ga. | Sarah King scored twice as Georgia College & State University downed Albany State University 7-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday (Oct. 23) evening.

The Bobcats improved to 6-6-3 overall and to 2-3-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Golden Rams fell to 1-13-0 and 0-6-0. GCSU returns to action Saturday (Oct. 26) when they travel to Graniteville, South Carolina, for a 7 p.m. league encounter against the University of South Carolina-Aiken.

GCSU, which outshot Albany State 38-1 (24-1 on goal), took a 1-0 lead at the 10:02 mark on an own goal by the Golden Rams. Aralyn Everett doubled the Bobcat lead on her third goal of the season off a Sara Schultz assist at the 24:40 mark.

The Bobcats scored two more goals in the final six minutes of the first half to take a 4-0 lead into halftime. Ali Amrozowicz scored her team-leading sixth goal off a Grace Phillips assist before Sara Schultz scored 35 seconds before half off an Ellie Fuller assist.

King opened the second half at thr 50:32 mark with the first of her two goals off a Sarah Mason assist before the Golden Rams got a goal 10 minutes later on their only shot of the match. King followed with her second goal 32 seconds after the Albany State score on an Amanda Dewey assist. Fuller closed out the scoring for the Bobcats on an unassisted goal with 41 seconds left in the match.

GCSU corralled 14 corner kicks compared to none for the Golden Rams.
