MORROW, Ga. | Georgia College & State University and Clayton State University battled to a scoreless draw in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match at Laker Field Wednesday (Oct. 2) evening.
The Bobcats improved to 3-4-2 overall and to 0-2-1 in the league, while the Lakers slipped to 6-0-2 and 2-0-1. Georgia College steps out of conference play Saturday (Oct. 5) when they host Christian Brothers University in a 1 p.m. match at Bobcat Soccer Field.
The match was a physical one as 19 fouls and seven cards were issued between the two teams. GCSU outshot Clayton State 17-14, while each team had eight shots on goal. The Bobcats outshot the Lakers 13-6 in the second half, despite playing the final 27 minutes a player down.
GCSU collected nine corner kicks to just one for Clayton State.Â
Ten different Bobcats had at least one shot with
Lily Markey leading the way with three, while
Adriana Duque,
Morgan Amrozowicz,
Sara Schultz,
Ali Amrozowicz and
Sarah King had two each.
Maddie Drake turned away a season-high eight shots as she recorded her first shutout between the pipes for the Bobcats.
