Bobcats ace Panthers in four sets

GCSU set records for sevice aces in win over Clark Atlanta

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University volleyball team set two school records for services aces as the Bobcats defeated Clark Atlanta University in four sets - 25-12, 26-24, 22-25 and 25-13 - Wednesday (Oct. 2) evening at the Centennnial Center.

The Bobcats improved to 7-6 overall, while the Panthers fell to 5-6. GCSU returns to Peach Belt Conference action Friday (Oct. 4) when they face the University of South Carolina-Aiken in a 6 p.m. home match. 

The Bobcats set the four-set school record with 18 service aces, while sophomore defensive specialist Finley Burns set the individual school record with 10 aces. The 10 aces by Burns was one off the PBC mark. Lexi Baum and Sarah Pipping each recorded two aces, while Sadie Parkerson, Alanis Bernis and Madeline Gilmartin had one apiece.

Camryn Carlton registered double-figure kills with 13, while Sierra Piland posted nine. Parkerson tallied 21 assists, while Riese Johnson had six assists. Bernis led GCSU with nine digs, while Parkerson had eight and Pipping posted seven.  The Bobcats recorded 15 total blocks (one solo, 14 assists). Brooke Roberts had four total blocks, while Carlton and Hayley Shepherd had three.
