CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. | Lincoln Memorial University scored a goal in each half to lead the Railsplitters past Georgia College & State University 2-1 in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday (Oct. 9) afternoon at the UTC Campus Recreation Sports Complex.
The Railsplitters improved to 3-4-2, while the Bobcats slipped to 4-5-2. GCSU returns to Peach Belt Conference action Saturday (Oct. 12) with a 2 p.m. contest against the University of South Caroilina-Beaufort in Bluffton, South Carolina.
LMU took the lead in the 18th minute when Ellie Snyder intercepted a back pass and slotted the goal into the left corner of the net. The Railsplitters doubled their lead 10 minutes in the second half on a Ryan Branson goal that was set up on a Jade Brown pass.
GCSU, which outshot Lincoln Memorial 13-12, cut the deficit in half at the 73:19 mark on
Amanda Dewey's second goal. Dewey's strike was a result of a
Morgan Amrozowicz corner kick from the right side and a pass from
Adriana Duque.
The Bobcats collected seven corner kicks compared to two for the Railsplitters.
Maddie Drake had six saves in goal for the Bobcats.
