BLUFFTON, S.C. | Georgia College & State University and the University of South Carolina-Beaufort battled to a scoreless draw in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday (Oct. 12) afternoon at Fin Land Field.
The Bobcats improved to 4-5-3 overall and to 0-2-2 in the Peach Belt, while the Sand Sharks fell to 6-2-3 and 3-1-1. GCSU returns to the Bobcat Soccer Field for a 7 p.m. Peach Belt encounter with the University of North Georgia Wednesday (Oct. 16).
USCB edged GCSU 10-9 in shots, including a 7-3 margin on goal. The best chance by either team to break the deadlock came with 46 seconds remaining when the Sand Sharks' Synne Bye-Andersen had a breakaway chance, but her shot from top of the box was smothered and corralled by GCSU goalkeeper
Maddie Drake to preserve the draw. Drake had seven saves between the pipes for the Bobcats.
Grace Phillips led the Bobcats with three shots, while six other GCSU players had one apiece. GCSU produced 12 corners kicks, while USCB had five.
