DAHLONEGA, Ga. | Evie DePetro led a balanced attack with 11 points as Georgia College & State University registered a 55-41 women's basketball victory over Young Harris College Friday (Nov. 8) afternoon at the Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center on the University of North Georgia campus.
The Bobcats improved to 1-0, while the Mountain Lions fell to 0-1. GCSU returns to action Saturday (Nov. 9) at 2 p.m. when they face Emmanuel (Ga.) University.
DePetro led the Bobcats will 11 points, while
Hannah Cail,
Ashyia Willis and
Jada Warren tallied 10 points apiece.
Miracle Parker and
Cam James led the way with six rebounds each, while Warren posted five more.
The teams battled to a 10-all tie after the first quarter before the Bobcats pulled away over the next 10 minutes. GCSU put together an 11-0 run to open up a 23-12 lead after Willis sank two free throws with 1:18 remaining before the half.

The Bobcats extended their lead out to 13 points (37-24) on an old-fashioned three-point play by Warren with 2:02 left in the third quarter. Young Harris closed to within five points (39-34) with 7:04 to go in the game, but the Bobcats took control back with six unanswered points to push their lead back to double figures at 11 (45-34) on a Warren jumper.
