Sand Sharks stun Bobcats 67-64

BLUFFTON, S.C.- Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball took a 67-64 road loss to the University of South Carolina-Beaufort.

Georgia College fell to 11-12 overall and 5-8 in Peach Belt Conference play. USCB improved to 6-14 on the season and 2-10 in the PBC. The Bobcats return to the Centennial Center Saturday, Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. to take on Lander University. 

The Sand Sharks had a hot first quarter scoring 21 points. They also put up 14 points in the second to go into the half leading GCSU 35-21. The Bobcats came out of the half with their best quarter of the night outscoring USCB 23-12 to cut the scoring deficit to 47-44. Both teams put up 20 points in the fourth quarter ultimately leading to the Sand Shark 67-64 win. 

The Bobcats had two double digit scorers and three players scoring eight points. Myra Strickland led the offense with 15 points on a 55 percent field performance and 60 percent from behind the three point arc. Hannah Cail iced 12 points as the second leading scorer. Ashyia Willis, Jaleah Storr and Dashaun Jackson all added eight points each on the evening. Willis led the team in assists with five. 

Jackson had 11 rebounds against the Sand Sharks to lead the Bobcats. Seven boards came from under the opposing basket with four coming under the Bobcat bucket. Jada Warren had the second most boards with nine with five coming on the offensive side of the ball.
