MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Valdosta State University took a 5-2 women's tennis decision over Georgia College & State University Wednesday (Feb. 21) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.
The Blazers improved to 2-2, while the Bobcats fell to 3-4. Georgia College returns to competition Friday (Feb. 23) when they host the University of West Georgia at 2 p.m.
Valdosta State swept all three doubles matches to take the doubles point before winning the next four singles matches to claim the match. GCSU took wins at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.
Chiara Santoro won at No. 2 in three sets. She dropped the first in a tiebreaker 7-6 (5) before taking set two 6-2. Santoro earned the point for the Bobcats with a 10-7 win in a super tiebreaker.
Ashley Bentz won her No. 3 singles match in three sets. She lost the first set 6-4 before taking the next two sets by identical scores of 6-2.
