No. 22 Bobcats take down Wolves 5-2

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The No. 22-ranked Georgia College & State University women's tennis team defeated the University of West Georgia 5-2 in a non-conference match Friday (Feb. 23) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.

The Bobcats improved to 4-4, while the Wolves fell to 2-3. GCSU will host Savannah State University in a 2 p.m. match Saturday.

After dropping the first doubles match, GCSU rallied to take the final two flights to earn the doubles point and take a 1-0 lead. Ashton Morrison and Jada Young won 6-2 at No. 1, while Ashley Bentz and Shradha Chhabra teamed up for a 6-4 decision at No. 3 to clinch the point.

The Bobcats opened up a 3-0 lead as Bentz won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3 singles, while Chhabra won 6-1, 6-3 in her No. 6 singles match. West Georgia got a win at No. 5 singles, before Young clinched the win for Georgia College at No. 1 singles with a 6-3. 3-6, 6-3 decision. Morrison also recorded a 6-4, 1-6, 6-3 victory at No. 4 singles for GCSU.
