AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball extend the win streak to five after the 80-73 take down fo Georgia Southwestern State University.
GCSU improved to 14-12 overall and 7-9 in Peach Belt Conference play. GSW fell to 15-11 and 7-9. Georgia College is back in action Wednesday, Feb. 28 on the road at Augusta University for 7: 30 p.m. tip-off.
The Bobcats scored the first four points and kept the lead until the Hurricanes tied the ball game at 15 all. GCSU answered with a
Luke Chism layup and kept the lead as they went into the half up 36-27. GCSU struck first in the second half of actin on an
Aidan Kudlas layup which lead to nine unanswered points. GSW tried to make the second come back getting the lead down to three points but came up short as
Austin Sloan closed the game with a dunk.
Brendan Rigsbee led the scoring effort for Georgia College with 20 points coming off of a 70 percent shooting night from the floor and a perfect 3-for-3 performance from behind the three point line. As the team's second leading scorer, Chism iced his season high of 11 points. He went 4-for-5 from the field goal range and shot 100 percent from the free throw line.
Brady Spence and Sloan rounded out the double figure scores as they both had 10 points. Spence went 4-for-5 to account for eight of his points. Sloan shot 57 percent from the floor for the majority of his points.
Spence and Sloan led the team in rebounds as they both nabbed six on the night. All of Spence's came under the Hurricane basket while four of Sloan's came on that side of the court. Chism had the the second most with five which all came on the defensive side of the ball.
