MACON, Ga. | NCAA Division I's Mercer University defeated Georgia College & State University 7-0 in a women's tennis match Wednesday (Feb. 28) afternoon at the Randy Stephens Tennis Center.
The Bobcats fell to 6-5, while the Bears improved to 6-3. GCSU returns to the Centennial Center Tennis Courts Friday (March 1) for a 1 p.m. non-conference match against Catawba College.
The Bears took the doubles point, but the Bobcats battled.
Jada Young and
Ashton Morrison dropped their match at No. 1 7-5 and
Lucy Kim and Chiaro Santoro were tied at 6 in their No. 2 match before Mercer claimed the doubles point.
Mercer took all six singles matches. Santoro has the closest finish for the Bobcats as she lost her match at No. 2 in second set tiebreaker (6-2, 7-6 (2)).
