GCSU drops conference series with USCA in 3-1 series finale

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Softball fell 3-1 in the final game of the three-game series against the University of South Carolina-Aiken.

The Bobcats fell to 16-14 overall and 2-7 in the Peach Belt Conference. USCA improved to 19-8 on the season and 5-4 in the conference. Georgia College will take a break from conference play and hit the road to take on Coker University for a 3 and 5 p.m. doubleheader on Tuesday, March 19.

Georgia College plated their lone run of the ball game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Kacie Wiggins came around to score on a miscue by the Pacer third baseman. USCA plated all three of their runs in the first two innings of the game then did not score again. They would win 3-1.

Karlie Gutierrez had the best day on offense for the Bobcats as she had a 2-for-4 day.

Tiffany Caban got the start in the circle for the third and final game of the series. Caban took the loss throwing two innings with three runs scoring while fanning three batters. Jana Shellhorse came in relief in the third inning and shut down the Pacers. Shellhorse allowed zero runs and picked up four strikeouts.
