Bobcats close season in PBC Quarterfinals, 68-63

AMERICUS, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball ended the 2023-23 season with a 68-63 loss to Augusta University in the Peach Belt Conference Quarterfinals. 

GCSU closed the season with a 12-17 overall record and a 6-12 conference record. Augusta moves on to the semifinals with a 22-7 record and a conference record of 15-3. 

Georgia College outscored AU in the first quarter 16-11 but where outscored in the second quarter 15-12 to tie the game at 27 each going into halftime. Both teams scored 18 coming out of the half with the contest being tied at 45 apiece going into the final quarter of play. Augusta put up 23 points in the final quarter to take the 68-63 win. 

Alexa Geary capped off her senior year as the leading scorer against the Jaguars with 14 points. Geary had four field goals and had a perfect 6-for-6 performance from the free throw line. The PBC third teamer Hannah Cail was the squad's second leading scorer with 10 points. Cail went 4-for-9 from the field including a long range bucket. Ashyia Willis had the third most points on the afternoon with nine as she banked four field goals. 

Jada Warren, Dashaun Jackson, and Cail led the team in rebounds as they all nabbed seven. Warren picked up six boards on the defensive side of the ball with Jackson picking up five and Cail snagging four.
