TIFTON, Ga. | Ryan Romano had five hits and drove in two runs as Valdosta State University claimed a 15-3 non-conference baseball victory in seven innings over Georgia College & State University Tuesday (April 2) afternoon on the campus of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
The Blazers improved to 17-12, while the Bobcats fell to 20-13. GCSU opens up a weekend Peach Belt Conference series against Claflin University Friday (April 5). First pitch at John Kurtz Field is at 6 p.m.Â
Valdosta State scored at least two runs in every innings and collected 20 hits as each starter had at least one hit.
GCSU scored twice in the fifth inning as
Brandon Bellflower had an RBI single through the right side and
Braeden Smith drew a bases-loaded walk. Smith added an RBI single through the left side in the seventh.
Brent Burford and
Cam McNearney each had two hits for the Bobcats, who had nine hits total.
Starter
William Joyner (0-1) took the loss for Georgia College.
