Bobcats claw past Jaguars 6-1

AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University won five of the six singles matches as the Bobcats downed Augusta University 6-1 in a Peach Belt Conference women's tennis match Wednesday (April 3) afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.

The Bobcats won their second consecutive league match as they improved to 10-7 overall and to 2-1 in the Peach Belt, while the Jaguars fell to 9-5 and 1-3. GCSU remains on the road for a 2 p.m. PBC match against Lander University Friday (April 5) in Greenwood, South Carolina.

GCSU took a 1-0 lead as they took two of the three doubles matches as Chiara Santoro and Laura Almagro teamed up to win No. 2 doubles 6-4 and Ashley Bentz and Shradha Chhabra shut out their opposition 6-0 at No. 3.

The Bobcats won the first five singles matches as Almagro, Santoro, Bentz, Chhabra and Jada Young all registered victories.
