Bobcats compete at two meets to open campaign

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University men's cross country opened their 2024 campaign with two meets Friday.

The Bobcats finished in fifth place with 112 points at the GMC Brickyard Invitational hosted by Georgia Military College at the Council Farms Course and in ninth place with 243 points at the Eye Opener held at the Milliken Research Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Evan Rehrauer was the top Bobcat in either field as he finished the 8K course in 27:00.0 at the Eye Opener and came in 43rd place. Nour Nazim was the next GCSU runner with a time of 27:27.6 and came in 57th place. Noah Boyd came in 59th place with a 27:41.8 time. Daniel Laird tallied a time of 27:37.8 and came in 63rd, while Garrison Lee rounded out the Bobcat contingent at the Eye Opener with a time of 29:08.8 and came in 95th place.

Shipley Smith was the top runner at the Brickyard Invitational as he came in ninth place with an 8K time of 27:19, while Peyton Harley recorded a top-20 finish in 18th place with a 28:07 time. Brendan Rice posted a time of 29:18.3 and came in 27th and was followed by Reed Glaser (32nd, 29:53.0) and Andrew Cook (36th, 30:52.7).

The Bobcats return to action Sept. 21 when they travel to Macon, Georgia, to compete in the Julius Johnson Invitational hosted by Mercer University at 8 a.m.
