SALISBURY, N.C. | Catawba College scored twice midway through the second half as they rallied for a 3-1 women's soccer victory over Georgia College & State University Sunday (Sept. 8) afternoon at Frock Field.
The 13th-ranked Catawba Indians improved to 2-0-0, while the Bobcats slipped to 1-1-0. GCSU returns to the pitch Wednesday (Sept. 11)Â when they open its home schedule with a 7 p.m. match against Middle Georgia State University at the Bobcat Soccer Field.
Catawba took a 1-0 lead off a goal from Kylie Morin in the 26th minute before the Bobcats leveled the match at 1 right before the half. GCSUÂ scored at the 40:11 mark on
Amanda Dewey's first goal of 2024 that was set up by
Sara Schultz.
It would stay that way until the 65th minute when Morgan Delair found the back of the net for Catawba as they took a 2-1 advantage. The Catawba Indians added an insurance goal 14 minutes later from Kelly Havens.
Catawba held a 15-6 advantage on shots, but only a 6-2 advantage on goal. The Catawba Indians accumulated a 9-2 edge on corner kicks.
Ella Hayes picked up three saves between the pipes for the Bobcats.
