CHARLOTTE, N.C. | The Georgia College & State University women's cross country team competed in two races at the Royals Cross Country Challenge hosted by Queens University of Charlotte Friday (Oct. 10) afternoon.
The Bobcats, who were competed in their final meet of the regular season, finished in ninth place out 19 teams with 191 points in the blue race, while GCSUÂ came in 14th place out of 19 squads in the gold race with 356 points.
In the blue race,
Lily Flood set a personal best 5K time on the McAlpine Creek Park course with an 23rd place effort of 20:21.19.
Emily Wright was 30th with a time of 20:34.21 while
Eva Jeswald was 40th at 20:57.32.
Briley Ittel also set a PR with a time of 21:03.27 and came in 42nd place, while
Avery Wheeler set a new best time of 21:42.53 and came in 63rd.
Campbell Smith (81st, 22:25.76) and
Rhone Marshall (87th, 22:45.78) rounded out the GCSU contingent.
Abbie Brown was the top Bobcat in the gold race as she finished in 72nd place with a personal best time of 19:03.91, while
Lauren Thisdale (78th, 19:11.88) and
Emma Shanklin (79th, 19:12.43) were close behind.
Bella Russell was 93rd with a time of 19:29.89 and was followed by
Haven Bejnerowicz (104th, 19:37.12),
Lorena Cazora (109th, 19:42.26),
Emma Jow (126th, 20:16.17),
Maddie Reese Smith (131st, 20:24.18) and
Izzy Hall (147th, 21:32.66). The times by
Maddie Reese Smith and Jow established new personal best times for each runner.
The Bobcats will return to action in two weeks as they host the Peach Belt Conference Championship at 9 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Bobcat Cross Country Course.
