MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Ellie Fuller capped off an incredible hat trick performance, scoring all three goals in the second half, as Georgia College & State University clawed its way through Albany State University 5-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer game Saturday (Oct. 18) at the Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Bobcats continued their undefeated conference record and increased their winning streak to four as they improved to 7-3-3 and 5-0-2 in the PBC, while the Golden Rams fell to 2-9-1 and 0-6-1. GCSU returns with a crucial conference contest against nationally ranked University of North Georgia Wednesday (Oct. 22) at 7 p.m. in Dahlonega, Georgia.
The Bobcats and Golden Rams maintained a tie after the first half; however, those ties told different stories, as the Bobcats accumulated 15 shots to the Golden Rams' single shot at the half. Nevertheless, GCSU did not let it stay tied entering the second half, as after a wholesale lineup change by head coach Jack Marchant, Fuller scored her first goal of the afternoon on an unassisted goal coming from a corner kick that perfectly curved into the net.
Within the next five minutes, Fuller drove in another shot, this coming from an assist from Brittany Bakke. Bakke later scored herself 10 minutes later from a string of assists from Lillie Sheffield and Mia Palumbo. The Bobcats went on to gather another corner kick, to which they promptly gave to Fuller, in which she secured another unassisted goal to ensure the hat trick. It was the first hat trick for the Bobcats since Ali Amrozowicz scored three times in a 4-1 win over Christian Brothers University in October 2024.
Mia Palumbo finished the Bobcat scoring with a late-minute goal from an assist from Savannah Sause.
The Bobcats had 34 total shots, with Bakke leading the way with six, followed by Alayna Cobb with four, Sheffield and Fuller with three apiece, and Jenni Järventaus, Mackenzly Cheely, Izzy Sause, Abbey Eison, and Mia Palumbo with two.
