MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The pink uniforms didn't bring the Bobcats luck as Georgia College & State University fell to Columbus State University 2-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer contest Saturday (Oct. 25) afternoon at the Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Bobcats fell to 7-5-3 overall and 5-2-2 in the PBC, while the Cougars improved to 9-5-1 and 7-2-0. GCSU returns to the road for its final Peach Belt game, a conference weekend matinee against Lander University Saturday (Nov. 1) at 1 p.m. in Greenwood, South Carolina.
The Cougars played fast and furious in the opening minutes against the Bobcats, as they put quick pressure on the defense and quickly scored within the opening 10 minutes, as Columbus State's Sarah Hungerford scored the game's opening goal from an assist from Mia Robinson. Hungerford struck once again, 13 minutes later, this time on an unassisted goal after a turnover in the backfield.Â
The Bobcats took four shots in the 90-minute contest, with Kaisa Fagerström, Lillie Sheffield, Emily Agi and Ellie Fuller sharing those four shots. Fuller's shot was the only shot on goal for GCSU.Â
Kassidy Fortin allowed two goals while making five saves.
