MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Mia Palumbo tied the game with a late goal as the Georgia College & State University women's soccer team tied with the University of South Carolina-Beaufort 1-1, staying undefeated in the Peach Belt Conference Saturday (Oct. 4) afternoon at the Bobcat Soccer Field.
The Bobcats remain undefeated in conference play, sitting at 3-3-3 overall and 2-0-2 in the PBC, while the Sand Sharks tie for the first time this season, moving to 8-1-1 and 3-1-1. GCSU will return to action against Middle Georgia State University Wednesday (Oct. 8) at 5:30 p.m. in Cochran, Georgia.
After a scoreless first half, the Sand Sharks opened the scoring as Jasiah Park scored a low left goal off an assist from Sami Ruby. The Bobcats answered back when Palumbo tied up the contest, hitting a low right goal to keep the Bobcats alive. USCB held a 13-11 margin on shots, including a 7-3 edge on goal.
Adriana Duque,
Kaisa Fagerstrom, and
Sarah King each contributed a pair of shots, with Fagerstrom and King each having a shot on goal.
GCSU's
Kassidy Fortin had six saves in her goalkeeping duties on the day.
