MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Kaylee Weeks and
Avery Huyck combined for 30 kills as Georgia College & State University took down Shorter University in four sets in a non-conference women's volleyball match Thursday (Oct. 9) evening in the Centennial Center on Dig Pink Night.
The Bobcats won the opening set 25-15 as they hit .372 before the Hawks tied the match at 1 with a 25-21 win in set two. GCSU closed out its 11th win of the season with wins of 25-19 and 26-24 in the final two sets.
GCSU improved to 11-6, while Shorter fell to 10-6. The Bobcats hit the road for their next three matches, starting with a 3 p.m. Peach Belt Conference contest against Flagler College Saturday (Oct. 11) in St. Augustine, Florida.
Weeks led the Bobcats with 18 kills and had a .319 hitting percentage on 47 swings, while Huyck posted 12 with a .385 hitting percentage on 26 attempts.
Lexi Polychrones nearly missed double figures as she added nine more.
Lexi Baum had 25 assists, while
Riese Johnson distributed 21.
Alanis Bernis recorded 17 digs, while Weeks tallied 13.
