TIGERVILLE, S.C. | Georgia College & State University fell 67-56 to North Greenville University in a women's basketball matchup Saturday (Nov. 22) afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium.
The Trailblazers improved to 3-2, while the Bobcats dropped to 0-4. GCSU returns to action Tuesday (Nov. 25), hosting Mars Hill University at the Centennial Center for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
The Bobcats opened with a quick 5-0 run on a jumper from freshman guard
Caroline Beavin and a three-pointer from junior guard
Nylah Nuri. North Greenville answered and held the lead for most of the game.
GCSU pulled ahead 49-48 in the third quarter after an and-one from senior
Bailey Vick. But a few late fouls allowed North Greenville to regain control and extend the lead by double digits, capped by a three-pointer from Amiyah Ware.
Caroline Beavin added five last minute points to cut into the deficit, but the Bobcats still fell short.
Senior guard
Deshona Gaither led the Bobcats with 15 points and six steals. Beavin finished with 14, while
Elizabeth Wynn added eight and
Bailey Vick contributed seven.
