Bobcats take down Panthers on Education Day

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's basketball team picked up a 70-45 non-conference win over LaGrange College Monday (Dec. 15) morning at the Centennial Center during Education Day
presented by Sonic.

With the win, the Bobcats improved to 2-7 overall while the Panthers fell to 5-4. GCSU returns to Peach Belt play Wednesday (Dec. 17) evening, hosting the University of South Carolina Beaufort at 5:30 p.m. in the Centennial Center.

GCSU came out strong, opening the game with a dominant first quarter where it scored 22 points and only gave up six. All five Bobcat starters found the scoring column in the opening quarter.

The Bobcats continued to build their momentum in the second quarter, extending the lead to 23 points going into halftime behind a pair of three pointers from Caroline Beavin and Molly Burns. GCSU maintained control throughout the second half, pulling away to secure the Education Day victory.

Beavin led all scorers with 15 points for the Bobcats. Elizabeth Wynn, Deshona Gaither and Bailey Vick each had nine. Wynn also finished with 11 rebounds.
