Emmanuel snaps GCSU's seven-game winning streak with 82-71 victory

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | Devin Story scored 20 points to lead Emmanuel (Ga.) University to an 82-71 non-conference men's basketball victory over Georgia College & State University Sunday (Dec. 21) afternoon on the final day of the Christmas in the Springs Classic at the Shaw Athletic Center.

The Lions improved to 5-8, while the Bobcats saw their seven game winning streak snapped as they fell to 8-3. GCSU will break for the holidays and will travel to Tampa, Florida, Dec. 29 for 4:30 p.m. exhibition game against NCAA Division I University of South Florida.

GCSU opened up its largest lead - seven points (32-25) - on a Khalil Green stepback jumper with 7:24 remaining in the first half that capped off an 8-0 run by the Bobcats.

A Story stepback jumper 80 seconds later gave the Lions the lead for good at 33-32. That basket was part of 13 unanswered points by Emmanuel that saw them open up a 38-32 lead.

The Lions led 45-41 at the half and saw their lead grow to as many as 15 points (69-54) with 7:21 remaining. The closest the Bobcats would get the rest of the game would be six points (76-69) on an Aidan Kudlas layup with 1:26 to play.

Green led the Bobcats with 21 points as he was 11-of-14 from the free throw line. James Nichols III added 16 points on 7-of-12 shooting and grabbed weight rebounds. Tony Carpio (13) and Kudlas (10) also finished in double figures. Oscar Lynch led GCSU with nine rebounds, while Kudlas grabbed eight more.
