MORROW, Ga. | Zyair Greene scored 12 of his game-high 26 points in overtime as Georgia College & State University defeated Clayton State University 80-73 Wednesday (Feb. 19) evening at the Loch.

The Bobcats, who won both games during the season with the Lakers, improved to 9-16 overall and to 4-11 in the Peach Belt, while the Lakers fell to 7-18 and 1-14. It was the first win for GCSU in four overtime games this season. The Bobcats return to action Saturday (Feb. 22) when they host Georgia Southwestern State University in a 5:30 p.m. PBC homecoming contest at the Centennial Center.

GCSU took a 24-16 lead midway through the first half on an Oscar Lynch putback, but the Lakers took a 31-27 at the half. Neither team held more than a six-point advantage in the second half. GCSU sent the game into overtime when Mason Etter hit two free throws to tie the game at 62 with 2:03 left. Neither team would score over the final two minutes of regulation.

Jojo Bell gave the Lakers a 63-62 lead 24 seconds into the extra time as he hit one of two free throws, but Aidan Kudlas conected on a jumper 20 seconds later to give the Bobcats the lead for good at 64-63. Greene then hit three-pointers in consecutive possessions to give GCSU a 70-63 lead with 2:42 to go. The closest the Lakers would get the rest of the way was four points (72-68).

Greene (12) and Kudlas (6) accounted for all 18 Bobcat points in overtime.

Greene and James Nichols III each registered double doubles. Greene posted 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Nichols had 10 and 10. Kudlas finished with eight points, while Lynch tallied seven.
