MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University won its third consecutive women's tennis match as they defeated the University of Texas A & M - Kingsville 5-2 in a non-conference match Friday (Feb. 21) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.
The Bobcats improved to 3-1, while the Javelinas fell to 1-3. GCSU hits the road Tuesday (Feb. 25) for a 2 p.m. match against Shorter University in Rome, Georgia.
GCSU took a 1-0 lead after doubles. The Bobcats won the first flight before Texas A&M - Kingsville took the third flight.
Jada Young and
Ashley Bentz clinched the doubles point for the Bobcats as they captured No. 2 in a tiebreaker 7-6 (2).
Shradha Chhabra,
Chiara Santoro, and
Rachel Black all claimed straight-set wins in singles for the Bobcats to open up a 4-0 lead. Victoria Conde Ventrell clinched the fifth point at No. 5 singles for GCSU in three sets (7-6 (3), 6-7 (2), 1-0 (5).
