MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University fell to Valdosta State University 5-1 in a non-conference baseball contest Tuesday (March 11) afternoon at John Kurtz Field.
The Bobcats fell to 12-12, while the Blazers climbed 13-10. GCSU heads to Americus, Georgia, for a three-game Peach Belt Conference set against Georgia Southwestern State University Friday (March 14) at 6 p.m.
The Blazer offense got to reliever Gavyn Seitz (0-2) as Farid Eljaiek scored a run on an RBI single for the first of the contest.
Valdosta State scored another on a wild pitch and a single in the third and fifth innings, respectively, before a Hunter Stowe solo home run extended the Blazer lead to 4-0.
The Bobcats were able to load the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but only could squeeze a single run across through a Keagan Baxter ground out.
Valdosta State added another in the way of an Orlando Pena solo shot, and the Blazer pen shut down the Bobcat offense to end it.
Dewey Brock (1-0) collected the win on five, two-hit shutout innings, punching out a pair. Keaton Fuller picked up his first save, on two innings of work.
Hank Noonan accumulated thee of the Bobcats four hits, with the other going to Gabe Wuerth.
