MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Braeden Smith drove in three runs while three other Georgia College & State University hitters drove in two as the Bobcats downed Emmanuel (Ga.) University Tuesday (March 18) evening at John Kurtz Field.
The Bobcats improved to 15-13, while the Lions fell to 12-16. GCSU opens an eight-game road trip with a 6 p.m. Peach Belt Conference game Friday (March 21) against Flagler College in St. Augustine, Florida.
After a run in the top of the first for Emmanuel, the Bobcats scored twice on an
Evan Cowan single to right field in their half of the inning. GCSU made it 3-1 an inning later when
Ben Hamacher added a sacrifice fly.
Emmanuel got a run back in the top of the fifth before
Hank Noonan stroked a two-run homer to left field in the bottom of the inning to give the Bobcats a 5-2 lead. It was Noonan's second long ball of 2025
The Lions added a run in the sixth after a wild pitch, but GCSU broke the game open with a four-run seventh to take a 9-3 lead. Hamacher drove in the first run on an infield singles before Smith cleared the bases with a double to left-center field.
Emmanuel scored three runs in the eighth to close to within 9-6, but the Bobcats added a run in the eighth on a
Keagan Baxter toi right field.
Christian Donaldson (3-4) earned the win as he sprinkled five hits and two strikeouts to allow a run over four innings.
Griffin Davis earned his second save with 1.1 scoreless innings of relief.
Baxter and Cowan led the offensive attack with three hits apiece as GCSU collected 12 hits. Hamacher and Smith had two hits each.
