Season comes to a close for Bobcats at Peach Belt Tournament semifinals

DAHLONEGA, Ga. | Caroline Martin and Ansley Hall combined for 27 points as the top seed University of North Georgia defeated No. 4 seed Georgia College & State University 63-22 in the semifinals of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Basketball Tournament Saturday (March 8) afternoon at Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.

The Nighthawks, who are ranked seventh nationally, improved to 28-2, while the Bobcats, who had beaten North Georgia last month, saw their season come to a close at 17-13.  The 17 wins are the most in the season since they won 18 games during the 2017-18 season.

GCSU jumped out to a 10-5 after Hannah Cail, who led the Bobcats with seven points, connected on a three-pointer with 6:00 left in the opening quarter; however, GCSU went nearly 10 minutes before scoring again on a Miracle Parker free throw that cut the deficit to 22-11 with 6:12 left before the half.

Jada Warren led the Bobcats with 11 rebounds, while Ashyia Willis added six points.

GCSU, which only scored six points in the second half, struggled from the field as they were 8-of-60, including 2-of-22 from distance. The 22 points were the fewest in a PBC Tournament game and were also the lowest total in the history of the GCSU program.
