No. 35 Bobcats clip No. 21 North Georgia 4-3 on Senior Day

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | No. 35 Georgia College & State University claimed a 4-3 Peach Belt Conference men's tennis victory over No. 21 University of North Georgia on Senior Day Saturday (April 12) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.

The Bobcats honored seniors Thomas Brewer and Gabe Cizek prior to the contest.

GCSU improved to 13-3 overall and to 2-2 in the Peach Belt, while North Georgia fell to 9-5 and 2-2. The Bobcats close out their conference ledger Wednesday (April 16) when they face Columbus State at 3 p.m. in Columbus, Georgia.

GCSU took a 1-0 lead as they claimed the pivotal doubles points. The Nighthawks won No. 3 doubles, but the Bobcats swept the other two doubles matches. Chase Martin and Rodrigo Pérez Crespo won 6-1 at No. 1, while Luka Sauer Jimenez and Noé Villen clinched the point with a 6-2 victory at No. 2.

The Bobcats extended their lead to 3-0 as Villen (6-1, 6-3) and Jimenez (6-2, 6-4) at No. 4 and 3 singles, respectively. North Georgia closed to 3-1 after picking up a victory at No. 1 singles, but Crespo clinched the GCSU victory with a 6-2, 1-6 and 6-0 win at No. 2.
