No. 5 North Georgia defeats No. 28 GCSU 4-1 in PBC semifinals

COLUMBUS, Ga. | The University of North Georgia picked up a 4-1 win over Georgia College & State University in the semifinals of the 2025 Peach Belt Conference Women's Tennis Tournament Saturday (April 26) afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.

The top-seeded Nighthawks, who are ranked fifth nationally, improved to 17-6, while the No. 28-ranked Bobcats, who were the No. 4 seed, fell to 15-6. GCSU, who are ranked sixth in the latest NCAA Division II regional rankings, will now wait until the NCAA Division II Tournament field is announced May 5 at 8:30 p.m. to see if the Bobcats earn one of the five at-large berths in the Southeast region.

North Georgia took the doubles point and added wins at No. 1 and 2 singles to take a 3-0 lead. Ashley Bentz earned the GCSU point at No. 3 singles with the 6-2, 7-6 (2) win. Rachel Black went the distance at No. 4 singles, but Linn Goerdes closed out the match with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win.
