VALDOSTA, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's volleyball team dropped two matches on the first day of the Valdosta State Tournament, Friday (Sept. 12) afternoon at The Complex on the Valdosta State University.
The Bobcats fell to Palm Beach Atlantic University 16-25, 15-25, 26-24, and 19-25 in the opener before ending the evening with a 15-25, 13-25 and 25-19 loss to Anderson (S.C.) University.
GCSU fell to 3-3, and they will return to action Saturday (Sept. 13) for the second day of the tournament. They will face Valdosta State at 11:30 a.m. and conclude the tournament with a 4:30 p.m. contest against Shorter University.
Avery Huyck led the Bobcats with 10 kills against Palm Beach Atlantic, while reigning Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week Camryn Carlton added eight more. Riese Johnson led with 17 assists, with Lexi Baum collecting nine as well. Alanis Bernin helped with 14 digs and Johnson also reached double figures with 11.
Kaylee Weeks had six kills in the contest against Anderson, while Carlton and Huyck each had five. Baum had nine assists, and Sadie Parkson contributed seven. Bernis added 25 digs to her daily ledger.
