Bobcats split matches in Alabama

LIVINGSTON, Ala. | The Georgia College & State University women's volleyball team split a pair of matches Friday (Sept. 19) afternoon on the campus of the University of West Alabama.

West Alabama rallied to take a five-set win over the GCSU. The Tigers took the opening set 25-14, before the Bobcats won the next two by scores of 26-24 and 25-21. West Alabama record the victory with 25-19 and 15-5 scores in sets four and five.

The Bobcats swept past the United State Sports University 25-9, 25-7 and 25-10 in the other match.

GCSU improved to 6-4 with the split. The Bobcats close out their road trip Tuesday (Sept. 23) at 6 p.m. when they face Fort Valley State University in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Camryn Carlton led the Bobcats with 14 kills against West Alabama, while Kaylee Weeks added 13. Sadie Parkerson distributed 22 assists, while Riese Johnson posted 17. Alanis Bernis collected 17 digs, while Parkerson added 13 and Milla Smith tallied nine. Hayley Shepherd paced GCSU with seven total blocks, while Lexi Polychrones had four and Carlton added three more.

Avery Huyck registered nine kills as the Bobcats made quick work of the Eagles, while Sierra Piland had five. Ile Bernis led GCSU with 15 assists, while Parkerson added eight. Alanis Bernis led the defense with 12 digs. Liv Diaz posted four service aces.
