MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Columbus State University had five players in double figures to push back Georgia College & State University 79-58 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball contest Wednesday (Jan. 14) night inside the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats dropped their third of the last four conference games, falling to 10-6 and 5-3 in conference, while the Cougars improved to 11-5 and 5-3. GCSU continues its homestand with a conference contest against Flagler College Saturday (Jan. 17) in a midday matinee at 3:30 p.m.
The Bobcats opened the scoring with a jumper from Khalil Green, yet after the Cougars answered with a jumper from Lee Langstaff II and a Pascal Volz three-pointer, they wouldn't look back. The lead ballooned to as big as 20 (34-14) at the 7:40 mark in the first half, and the momentum continued for Columbus State in the second half. The Cougars led by as much as 26 (79-53) with 1:09 left in the contest.
C.J. Jones' 15 points led GCSU, while Luke Krawczyk added 11. James Nichols III and Gabe Bolden each contributed eight points. Nichols also led the Bobcats in the rebound department with six.
