Green, Bobcats push by Saints 74-67

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Guard Khalil Green was nearly perfect as Georgia College & State University pushed past Flagler College 74-67 in a Peach Belt Comference men's basketball game Saturday (Jan. 17) afternoon at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats improved to 11-6 overall and to 6-3 in the Peach Belt, while the Saints fell to 10-7 and 4-5 Up next for GCSU is a 5:30 p.m. PBC tilt against Lander University at home.

Green was 7-for-9 from the floor and 9-for-9 from the free throw line as he led the Bobcats with 24 points. C.J. Jones (11) and Aidan Kudlas (10) also finished in double figures for GCSU. Oscar Lynch led the Bobcats with nine rebounds, while Jones distributed five assists. Green and Kudlas added three assists apiece.

GCSU used a 9-0 run  to open up an 11-point lead (16-5) after a Lynch three-pointer with 13:39 to go in the first half. Flagler pulled within four points (17-13)  on a Camden Andrews layup; however, GCSU put together eight unanswered point to open its largest lead - 12 points (25-13) - after two Luke Krawczyk free throws with 6:06 to play.

The Bobcats, who led 34-29 at the half, expanded their lead to nine points (53-44) after a Lynch three-pointer with 11:30 to go, but a 13-2 run by the Saints gave them their first lead (57-55) since the early stages of the game when Rahdir Hicks named a three-pointer with 6:47 remaining.

Kudlas connected on a three-pointer to give GCSU the lead for good at 63-60 with 5:25 to go. A Jones three-pointer from the right corner put the Bobcats up 72-64 with 59.1 seconds left. GCSU, which led for over 37 minutes, was 7-of-13 from long distance, including 5-of-7 over the final 20 minutes. GCSU led 22-8 in the paint and the bench outscored Flagler 29-13.

Tymoteusz Pszczola and Hicks led the Saints with 15 points, whille Andrews had 14. Pszczola led Flagler with eight rebounds.
