Weather forces changes to baseball, softball openers this weekend

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Due to the possibility of winter weather and extreme cold temperatures, Georgia College & State University has announced changes for the opening weekend of home baseball and softball games.

The three-game baseball series between the Bobcats and top-ranked and two-time defending NCAA Division II national champions University of Tampa will now be played as a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Friday (Jan. 30) and a 2 p.m. single game Sunday (Feb. 1) at John Kurtz Field.

The softball doubleheader between GCSU and Young Harris College that was supposed to be played Saturday (Jan. 31) at the Bobcat Softball Field has been moved up 24 hours to a 2 p.m. start Friday (Jan. 30). The doubleheader Sunday (Feb. 1) against Florida Southern College has been canceled and will not be rescheduled.
