Bobcats fall to Nighthawks 67-48

DAHLONEGA, Ga. | The University of North Georgia defeated Georgia College & State University 67-48 in a Peach Belt Conference women's basketball matchup Wednesday (Jan. 7) evening at the Lynn Cottrell Arena at the UNG Convocation Center.

The Nighthawks improved to 11-5 overall and 6-0 in conference play, while the Bobcats dropped to 5-9 overall and 1-5 in conference. GCSU returns to the court Saturday (Jan. 10) afternoon at the University of South Carolina Aiken with a 1:30 pm tipoff against the Pacers.

The Bobcats started the game slow only scoring seven points and giving up 17 in the first quarter. They finished the half with just 12 points, and allowed 20 points in the paint by the break.

GCSU came out in the second half with momentum behind big shots from guards Slone Vick and Deshona Gaither, along with a three pointer from Nylah Nuri. Rebounding and second chance points helped the Bobcats cut the deficit to 15 points before UNG regained control in the contest.

Gaither led the Bobcats in scoring with 12 points and Sloane Vick followed closely with 11. Nylah Nuri and Natalia Bolden added six each. Six different players grabbed four rebounds for GCSU.
