GCSU remains at No. 8 in latest USTFCCCA regional rankings

10/6/2026 3:17:00 PM

NEW ORLEANS, La. | The Georgia College & State University women's cross country team remained ranked eighth in the second U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II Southeast Regional poll of the season.

Regional rankings are determined subjectively by a single member coach in each respective region. The regional representative is tasked with weighing returning teams' strength with current season results (if applicable) in determining a rank-order of squad potential. Only USTFCCCA member programs are eligible to receive a ranking. Teams with provisional status within the region may be ranked.

GCSU is one of three Peach Belt Conference institutions inside the top 10. Flagler College is ranked fourth followed Augusta University (sixth) and GCSU.

The Bobcats finished in seventh place at the Georgia Tech Cross Country Invitational last week with all nine Bobcats setting personal-best times in the 6K race. Three GCSU runners - Erin O'Brien, Sydney Thisdale and Haven Bejnerowicz - had performances inside the top 20 6K times in program history.

The Bobcats return to action  Friday (Oct. 9) when they host the Bobcat Invitational presented by Chick-fil-A of Middle Georgia. The 5K race will start at 5 p.m. on the Bobcat Cross Country Course.
