Bobcats fall in road matchup at Columbus State

COLUMBUS, Ga. | Despite a double-double from Natalia Bolden, the Georgia College & State University women's basketball team fell to Columbus State University 87-55 in a Peach Belt Conference matchup Saturday (Feb. 14) afternoon at the Lumpkin Center in Columbus, Ga.

The Cougars improved to 21-3 overall and 15-2 in conference, while the Bobcats fell to 8-16 overall and 4-12 in the Peach Belt. GCSU returns to the Centennial Center Wednesday (Feb. 18) evening to host the University of North Georgia at 5:30 p.m. They will also be honoring their five seniors: Natalia Bolden, Rose Bone, Deshona Gaither, Hayley Shepherd, and Bailey Vick

The Cougars' defense set the tone early, limiting the Bobcats to just two points in the first quarter off free throws from Nylah Nuri.

The Bobcats were able to find their offense in the second half, scoring 21 points in both the third and fourth quarters. However, the score deficit was too much to overcome. Turnovers and rebounds played a big part in the final outcome for the Bobcats.

Natalia Bolden led GCSU with 11 points, and freshmen Caroline Beavin and Sloane Vick added eight each. Bolden also finished with 10 rebounds.
