AUGUSTA, Ga. | Augusta University scored nine runs in the middle three innings to rally for an 11-4 Peach Belt Conference baseball victory over Georgia College & State University Saturday (March 21) afternoon at Jaguar Field.
The Jaguars improved to 14-14 overall and to 10-7 in the Peach Belt, while the Bobcats slipped to 12-16 and 8-9. The teams wrap up their weekend series with a 1 p.m. contest Sunday (March 22).
Augusts jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third, before GCSU scored three times in the top of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead.
Zachary Paulling had a two-run single and
Evan Cowan added an RBI infield single.
The Jaguars used two two-run homers in the bottom of the inning to open up a 6-3 lead. GCSU got a run back on
Cole Huddleston's sacrifice fly in the fifth. The Jags added four insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth, including three on a homer to center field by Nolan Turner.
Cowan led the way for the Bobcats with three hits, while
Luke Boone added two more.
Jake Beaver (3-4) absorbed the loss for GCSU.
