AIKEN, S.C. | Georgia College & State University fell to the University of South Carolina Aiken 2-1 in a Peach Belt Conference softball series opener Friday (Mar. 27) evening at the USCA Softball Facility.
The Pacers improved to 21-15 overall and 5-5 in the Peach Belt, while the Bobcats fell to 10-14 overall and 4-6 in conference play. The teams will close out the series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday (Mar. 28) afternoon.
USC Aiken scored both of its runs in the second inning, using RBI singles to take an early lead.
The Bobcats scored its single run in the fourth inning without recording a hit.
Kimber Kent scored on
Karlie Gutierrez's groundout to cut the deficit to 2-1.
Sydney Garrett took the loss for Georgia College despite a strong game in the circle, allowing two runs on five hits.
