AIKEN, S.C. | The Georgia College & State University softball team bounced back to secure the doubleheader win at USC Aiken Saturday (Mar. 28) evening, winning the opener 11-1 before taking the nightcap 1-0 to close out the series.

The Bobcats improved to 12-14 overall and 6-6 in the Peach Belt, while the Pacers fell to 21-17 overall and 5-7 in conference. GCSU returns to action Tuesday (Mar. 31) afternoon when it hosts Emmanuel University at 2 p.m. at the Bobcat Softball Field.

The Bobcats broke the game open with a four-run fourth inning and added five more in the seventh to pull away for the one-sided victory.

Maddie Todd hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning to extend Georgia College's lead to 4-1. Todd also added a sacrifice bunt and finished with two hits and two RBIs on the day.

Emily Hobbs went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the seventh, while Kacie Wiggins added two hits and an RBI. Karlie Gutierrez and Halley Nobles each collected two hits as well.

Tiffany Caban earned the win in the circle for the Bobcats, pitching five innings and allowing just one run on one hit.

Annalise Knop was dominant in game two, pitching a complete game shutout to lift the Bobcats over the Pacers for the doubleheader sweep.
